More Than Just a Week: Netpremacy's Ongoing Commitment to Mental Health Support

At Netpremacy, ensuring that our team has the environment and support to perform their roles to their maximum capability is crucial.

That’s why we have adopted a hybrid working system, allowing our team to tend to their responsibilities when necessary. We have also partnered with a local fitness studio to provide our team with passes for classes, helping them break up their day while exercising.

However, one of the biggest things we introduced when shifting to a hybrid model was our Mental Health First Aiders.

With today marking the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to shed light on our Mental Health First Aiders role within Netpremacy and what it takes to become a Mental Health First Aider.

Hybrid working has many positive aspects, but it has significantly reduced workplace interactions, meaning sometimes employees can feel they are suffering alone. Our First Aiders provide our team with a familiar face to discuss anything that may be on their minds and get support and guidance to help them.

All of our Mental Health First Aiders are required to complete the MHFA England course to become fully certified. The course covers a wide range of topics, so our first aiders can help across a wide range of issues.

Recently, Amara has become our newest Mental Health First Aider. She wanted to share why she decided to take up the role.

‘While facing my own struggles with mental health, I stumbled upon the concept of Mental Health First Aid. It quickly became evident that there was a way to equip myself and others with the skills to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis.

With a desire to make a difference, I decided to become a certified Mental Health First Aider. I will now be starting my training journey. The training will be an eye-opening experience, teaching me about the prevalence of mental health issues, the signs and symptoms to look out for, and how to approach someone in distress.

I realise how important it is for me to have these skills. I hope to relate to the experiences shared by others and gain a sense of empowerment, knowing that I could make a positive impact.

Becoming a Mental Health First Aider is not just about helping others; it is also a journey of self-discovery and healing. It allowed me to understand my mental health struggles better and develop strategies for coping with them.

Becoming a Mental Health First Aider will equip me with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support others and to advocate for mental health awareness.’
