Staff Stories: Alice O’Sullivan, Junior Support Engineer
Welcome back to our staff stories! This month we’re looking at all things support with our Junior Support Engineer, Alice O’Sullivan!
What is your role at Netpremacy?
As a Junior Support Engineer, I work with the rest of the support team to resolve issues and answer any queries that our customers come to us with. My job mainly consists of researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving customer issues accurately and in a timely manner.
A customer might come to us with an issue relating to a Google Workspace service such as Drive or Calendar, it could be an email delivery problem, or it might have to do with something technical like a connection error.
It’s pretty great that we get a variety of tickets coming in as it means every day is different.
What 3 traits do you think are vital for your role?
1. Problem solving/troubleshooting
2. Good communication and customer service
3. An interest in technology
What are some of the ways you have grown in your role?
Before starting this job in September, I hadn’t even worked with Google Workspace! So I’ve learnt a lot when it comes to using its services, as well as the admin side of it for support purposes.
I’ve also developed my technical skills massively, not only through the day-to-day activities of my job but also with the help of training/resources that I have access to, which helped me out in my first few months.
What are the top 3 things you love about the company?
1. The people! Everyone is really supportive of one another.
2. Opportunities to grow knowledge/skills and choose your career path.
3. The company is always expanding, and it’s exciting to be working alongside Google.
Where do you see yourself in 3 years?
I want to improve my technical skills and have a greater knowledge of Google Cloud. It should help to open more doors for me.
I was interested in becoming some type of developer, but whether this is the path I will take – who knows! There are so many opportunities to consider!
What would be your alternative career path?
Anything animal-related – working at a rescue centre/sanctuary.
