The Steps Netpremacy Takes to Promote Positive Mental Health
As we approach World Mental Health Day, it is important to take a moment to reflect on our situations and acknowledge the steps we can take to improve both our mental health and the mental health of the people around us.
What is World Mental Health Day?
World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness and mobilise efforts to ensure we can support those struggling. COVID-19 affected many people’s mental health, but charities like Mind, CALM and Young Minds, among many others, have done vast amounts of work to ensure that we are more aware than ever of our mental health.
How has the shift In business attitudes affected mental health?
Many businesses now adopt a remote or hybrid working model. While this comes with a long list of positives, it has significantly reduced workplace interactions, increasing the need for companies to ensure their employees aren’t suffering alone.
Recent studies show 914,000 workers suffered from work-related stress, depression or anxiety and 17 million working days were lost due to work-related stress in 2022 alone.
What we’re doing at Netpremacy to combat this?
Netpremacy prides itself on being open and transparent about Mental Health at work. We have three dedicated Mental Health First Aiders within the company who are active in and around the office to raise awareness and update the company with helpful information and resources. They all work within different parts of the business, so people in any team can feel comfortable approaching them.
As a business, using Google Workspace gives us access to Chat, Spaces and Meet, which encourages teams to quickly and effectively communicate within their team and across the business.
Away from the desk, we also have group lunches on team days to offer employees the time and space to discuss life outside of work. Our dedicated Netsocial team creates an active calendar of inclusive events that bring our colleagues together to celebrate successes as a team and embrace time together away from the computer!
Mental Health affects us all. We will all know someone who has struggled with their mental health at some point. Or maybe you are struggling yourself. Use this year’s World Mental Day to have these conversations. Making small changes in the workplace could make a huge difference.
