Framing the Future: How Framestore Securely Embraced the AI Revolution with Netpremacy

  • Framestore operates in a highly secure environment to protect both client and company intellectual property. This presented a significant hurdle for adopting new cloud-based AI tools.

"From a security standpoint, our clients often place strict limits on the cloud-based tools we can use," Kirsty Cleminson, Director of Technical Business Operations at Framestore, notes. "We operate through a walled-garden network, which means the data never leaves that secure environment except through tools we’ve already agreed upon"

Framestore initially explored a strategic phased approach to integrating AI across the business, but this planned methodology was put to the test when Google's decision to seamlessly bundle Gemini into existing Workspace licenses gave all employees immediate access to a powerful new AI tool.

"Originally, Gemini was not part of the license... and then when Google decided that they were going to just put it out there, we had to change tack," Kirsty says.

This rapid evolution created an opportunity for Framestore to accelerate its AI adoption. However, it also created an urgent need for a new strategy: a structured and secure rollout and training plan for hundreds of employees to mitigate security risks and ensure correct usage.

  • Netpremacy was already working with Framestore on a Gemini assessment project when Google seamlessly integrated the tool into all Workspace licenses. This existing partnership allowed Netpremacy to swiftly pivot its approach and help Framestore adopt the new technology. Netpremacy was then engaged to deliver a professional and structured training program tailored to Framestore's unique needs.

The training itself was highly focused and interactive. Netpremacy's specialists led a series of sessions that not only demonstrated the practical uses of Gemini within tools like Google Docs, Gmail, and Sheets but also created an open forum for discussion. The training sessions focused on a core group of business-oriented staff, ensuring the right people were empowered first.

These sessions provided a crucial platform for dialogue and understanding. Framestore employees could ask questions about security, data privacy, and best practices, which was invaluable for the leadership, "I think it gave people the opportunity to raise pertinent questions, which was valuable in helping us gauge perspectives "

Netpremacy's organised approach was key to managing the process effectively across a large user base in a short timeframe, "they were very professional, they organised us, there was definitely a tight structure around it."

  • The collaboration with Netpremacy proved highly effective, delivering several key benefits that accelerated Framestore's AI adoption. By partnering with an external expert, Framestore was able to confidently navigate the integration of Gemini while achieving:

Accelerated & Professional Adoption: By engaging an external expert, the training was delivered with a level of authority and professionalism that drove higher user engagement and a more structured, faster adoption of the new technology across the business.

Valuable Employee Insight: The interactive training sessions created a vital feedback loop, providing Framestore's leadership with a clear understanding of their team's perspectives, questions, and ideas about integrating AI into their work.

A Secure Foundation for Innovation: The project successfully introduced a powerful new AI tool within Framestore's strict security framework. This has created a safe environment for teams to explore new efficiencies, and as Kirsty notes, "Gemini has presented a lot of different opportunities for Framestore to improve some of its processes and workflows."

  • The successful training initiative with Netpremacy has established a crucial launchpad for Framestore's ongoing AI journey. The initial exploration into improving "processes and workflows" is set to expand, with teams now empowered to identify and test new use cases for Gemini that drive efficiency in business and production support operations.

Moving forward, Framestore will continue to explore Gemini's capabilities with a security-first mindset, ensuring that any new application aligns with its stringent client and internal data protection policies. This secure approach to innovation will enable the company to integrate AI more thoughtfully into its ecosystem.

The partnership with Netpremacy has not just been about a one-time training event; it has been a strategic enabler that has positioned Framestore to confidently and securely embrace the future of AI in the visual effects industry.
