Delivering Innovation:
Gemini’s AI Boost at Grubhub

May 2025

About Grubhub…

Founded in 2004, Grubhub is an American online food ordering and delivery platform based in Chicago. As of January 2025, Grubhub is a subsidiary of Wonder Group. Netpremacy is a key strategic partner to Grubhub, providing ongoing support for their Google Workspace environment.

  • With the accelerating advancements and increasing accessibility of AI in the workplace, Grubhub recognised Gemini’s transformative potential and initiated a strategic evaluation of the tool. The initial interest stemmed from Grubhub’s marketing team, who wanted to look at Gemini’s potential to help with various tasks, from refining workflows to content creation. Subsequently, this initiative sparked enthusiasm across Grubhub, prompting numerous other teams to explore this cutting-edge technology. With this widespread interest in Google AI and a desire to enhance their Google-first strategy, Grubhub wanted to explore Gemini further and understand how it can be best utilised across the business.

  • To mitigate potential challenges, Grubhub worked with Netpremacy to define a structured rollout and enablement strategy. Together, they identified relevant use cases across various teams and established a structured approach for the widespread adoption of Gemini. Netpremacy's Change Management team delivered extensive training and support, enabling employees to effectively leverage Gemini's capabilities and ensure that users were maximising the tool's potential.

The structured approach proved crucial to the project’s success, with regular meetings, constant communication, and ongoing support that maintained employee engagement and motivation, further enhancing user adoption.

Jeremy Rosenberg, Grubhub’s Core Services and IT Lead, says: “The overall experience was great. Netpremacy, particularly Rosy and her team, provided invaluable and thorough guidance on Gemini's utilisation. Without the support of Netpremacy, our ability to effectively train and focus teams on key usage aspects would have been significantly limited. I believe that while it might not have been a complete failure, it certainly wouldn't have garnered the same level of interest and focused attention.”

  • The Gemini enablement project proved to be a success for Grubhub. The training initiatives ignited a significant surge in Gemini adoption, with daily active users leaping from approximately 300 to 550, and the total user base expanding from 40% to 55% after just two rounds of training. This increase underscores the positive impact Gemini has had on Grubhub's teams.

Key achievements of the project include:

    • Enhanced AI exposure across the wider organisation: Multiple departments across Grubhub participated in user training, including Procurement, Legal, the People Team, Engineering, Growth, Marketing, PMO, Core IT, TPM, and Finance, among others. This holistic approach to training and adoption meant more use cases were addressed, allowing Grubhub to significantly ramp up adoption across the whole organisation.

    • Boosted employee engagement: Around 100 people joined the ‘Leveraging AI through Gemini’ livestream at the start of the project. This, along with the Integrated AI in Workspace Training and AI Standalone Apps Training, both of which were attended by 310 users, contributed to a 15% increase in Gemini usage. This was achieved in a short space of time during the project, suggesting that this figure could rise even further with increased exposure across the business.

    • Future-proofing AI adoption: The success of the user training and Change Management strategy allowed Grubhub to demonstrate the value of AI to end-users, paving the way for future investment in the technology. Grubhub has the ability to scale up adoption with the training materials available on their Training Hub, along with information on use cases and detailed support for each AI feature.

By embracing a structured approach and capitalising on expert guidance, Grubhub was able to harness Gemini’s power effectively. This strategic move not only fueled productivity and innovation but also empowered teams to transform and revolutionise how they work.
